Now we are opening up our gate wide to the vicinity of our school! Nowadays our society is called 'the global society’, ‘the information-oriented society’, and 'life long education society' etc. The speed of the rise and fall of knowledge and the variety of our information is really beyond our expectation. Now we are faced with the age where it is actually impossible to have a secure job for whole life relying only on the education that we had during a certain period of our lives.

Moreover the meaning and importance of our job and leisure has changed. Our leisure and hobby have changed into our occupation. And the fruitful leisure activity can lead us to more productive occupational life. In this way we are confronting the shift of paradigm challenges the traditional idea that work is production while leisure is consumption.

Besides the concept on the function of university has also changed. Now many universities came to adopt the idea that they should open up wide to their neighboring local society and actively meet their educational need stepping out of their closed campus.

More and more people are realizing the necessity of a series of education system for local societies which provides them with practical knowledge and skill for their job, the necessity of continuous studies for their life of recreation or recharging, and the meaningful role of a university which is in charge of continuing education.

At this point we, as the only university in Gwangju city, are opening up our gate and providing our neighbors with various courses for supporting missionary, courses of licence that guarantees our fruitful future, and the courses of liberal art for our graceful and noble life etc. by sharing our best faculty resources and educational environment with them.
